The Management of the Windsor Hotel,
located in Americus, Georgia, would like to announce that Paul Riley is
now the new general manager of the Windsor, effective January 1, 2005. He
is replacing Sharad Patel, who is still the owner of the Windsor, but no
longer the general manager. Patel is now working with the Food and
Beverage Department.
The Windsor Hotel has started in the
beginning of October of 2004 its second restoration process under the
supervision of owner Sharad Patel; the first one took place in 1999-2000.
Lately, all the windows of the hotel were cleaned and painted and all the
outside bricks were sealed to avoid water damage. The bricks received two
coats of sealant, a process that adds to the structure of the bricks and
improves their look, according to Sharad Patel.
Portions of the Windsor’s roof were also
repaired and every store front of the Windsor will receive new awnings.
Recently, one of the Windsor banquet rooms, Americus-Sumter room, has also
been renovated and is ready to host receptions of up to 120 people.
In the interior of the hotel all of the
hallways, public areas and doors are being restored. Floyd’s pub will have
new wallpaper, chairs and tables. Each table will be engraved with the
beautiful Windsor logo.
According to the owner Sharad Patel, the
hotel needs to be restored on a periodic basis so that the landmark will
not deteriorate. Moreover, it is more economical to keep it in good health
than go through a major process of restoration after the hotel has already
deteriorated.
In 2003, each guestroom has been renovated
and the woodwork of each room has been meticulously restored, glossed and
polished. Each room has been given a new elegance and distinctive design,
which makes each room individualized, according to Patel.
All fabrics and wallpaper in the guestrooms
have been replaced to their original design as documented by Schumacher
Designs of New York. And the carpeting has been replaced with a superior
carpet brand. The bathrooms now have new hardware and shower curtains. All
of the guestrooms and banquet rooms also gained high speed internet
service to best suit the needs of corporate guests. Guestrooms will now
have their ceilings and walls painted.
Among the future projects for the Windsor,
Sharad Patel wants to restore the Grand Dining Room and turn the fifth
floor into a first class spa. He also expects to raise enough revenue to
hire a full time bellman. These additions will assign the Windsor a four
star hotel rating. According to him, “The restoration process is an
ongoing process”. |
